I enjoy bringing hands on materials into my lessons whenever possible and use positive feedback to encourage the child.
I recently graduated from the University of South Carolina-Aiken and hold a BA in Early Childhood Education. I am a certified K-3 teacher and I am currently pursuing my MAED online. In December 2008, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State University. In addition, I have also earned certification in Early Childhood Education (P-5). Last Spring, I was a substitute teacher for PreK-5th grade classes. I am currently a paraprofessional in a Kindergarten classroom at S. L. Mason Elementary School in Valdosta, Georgia.

I have come to the conclusion through both personal experience, observation of other master teachers and through current educational research that it is most necessary to teach reading and math daily in a systematic manner while exposing the students to a learning rich environment(a classroom reading corner full of books is ideal for this). Florida Writes is an assessment of writing proficiency which incorporates the assessment of higher order skills, since students are required to generate and develop the ideas that form the basis for their written responses. Prior to 2010, a student could have received a half-point score, such as 4.5; whereas since 2010, no half-point scores are possible.
