A Little Bit About Me...

I have my BA in social science and a Master's in counseling. I have been in the field of education for twenty years. I have taught in mostly middle and high school and am currently teaching psychology at Mid Michigan Community College. I have worked with youth in many different capacities. I have worked with 4-H, public schools, college, and volunteered in many areas. I am dedicated to and passionate about education and the process of learning. I have good realtionships with my students and they trust that I have their best interests at hand. While I understand that learning is serious, it should also be fun. I value the importance of learning and believe that I convey that to those I teach.

I am extremely passionate about the education of our youth, and I believe that it is the foundation of a growing society. I have worked with children in urban high schools and juvenile facilities, and I have thus learned to appreciate the difference that a dedicated teacher can make in an environment that does not lend itself to learning and growth. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and once I started teaching, I truly realized that that was what I wanted to do. All students deserve the right to learn, and it is up to the teacher to learn each and every students' strengths and weaknesses in the classroom and plan their lessons accordingly. It is important to create a comfortable learning environment so that students can be taught effectively. When students feel comfortable in the classroom, it is easier to build positive relationships with them. When this happens, students feel comfortable when approaching his/her teacher with any questions or concerns they may have.
