I specialize in teaching children 6-12 but can just about show anyone how to play an instrument. I start with teaching them to read music and then we graduate to learning to play music.
I've been playing music since I was 14. I taught myself how to play every brass instrument plus tenor/alto saxophone. By the time I was ready for college I had several options thanks to band. Music has helped open so many doors for me and I would love to spread my knowledge to your child and help them to achieve their goals! Music can also help your child in other subjects they might have trouble concentrating in. So not only will your child come out playing their instrument better but their class work will improve too!

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a recent graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in Music Education. While at North Texas, I taught middle and high school-aged students the art of music. During the summer I graduated, I tutored elementary and middle school-aged children reading and math. These experiences have helped me to gain different teaching skills and how to teach students with different learning capabilities. I like to teach on an individual basis because I can focus on a single student who has a unique way of learning. I can cater to this student and help him/her in exactly the way he/she needs. A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age. I was a nanny for a family of three for a year right after graduating. It was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to create my own lessons and activities for the children. The following year I was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin for various grade levels and loved each experience. I am looking forward to beginning to substitute teach again this December in the DeKalb area.
