A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught in private high schools and colleges,as well as public high schools and universities for the past thirty years. I have a great passion for teaching and mentoring, with an emphasis on preparing students for college. My thesis in English was on Eudora Welty's fiction; however, my dissertation was on Shakespeare. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught classes at the college level since 2004. These include U.S. History surveys, the Civil War, African-American History, and others. I have worked mostly with teenagers in these classes. Recently, I tutored high school students at Dr. Linda Pearson's Reading and Math Center in Birmingham, AL. I am very comfortable working with students to improve their reading and writing abilities.
I try to set high standards in order to prepare students for future work. I like to ask questions which stimulate students to think about big ideas. I prefer to use Discussion-based teaching when applicable.
