I have been tutoring and teaching students and staff in a variety of subjects. Most recently I have assisted with numerous collegic research papers, private violin lessons, 1:3 &1:1 ratio teaching of individuals with ASD or other related disorders, and teaching staff members professional, motivational, and specialized skills. In addition, I have multiple years of experience teaching life skills, I.e. Studying, writing, organizational & related skills, that are generalized in a variety of subjects. I received a BA in both English and Elem Education at Assumption College in Worcester MA. This has allowed me to qualify teaching at the Elem level, and also teaching English at the jr high and highschool level.I became a substitite for Gilford High right out of college. I worked as an eighth grade long term substitute for Math, Science and Social Studies for 5 months. Upon the teacher returning, I then worked as a 7th grade paraprofessional until we moved to Bakersfield, where I now have taught secod grade for the past two years at Carden School.I have worked with many different grade levels. I have worked with different state's approaches to learning, and beleive this is an advantage in experience. I love teaching and working with all children. I started teaching Sunday School when I was in Junior High. I taught a little boy in my class how to read and it was the most rewarding experience I have ever encountered. As aforementioned, throughout high school, I began tutoring students in Math, English, Spanish, Science, and History. I tutored one 6th grade student who was ADHD. He had several tutors before me, but none had the patience to work with him. I started tutoring him and fell in love with this particular child. I believe in motivating children to be self learners through independent discovery. I particularly enjoy watching an apathetic student become excited when he/she has grasped a concept that was frustrating for him/her. I am a firm believer in children becoming responsible for their own learning. This is achieved when the teacher is able to teach and the child is able to learn.
