My own learning style is a combination of visual and auditory, which has led me to believe flexibility is key. There is no one “best” method which works for all students, so my primary job is to help the student teach me the way he or she learns best. I have had much success with my style of tutuoring, and take much pride and personal satisfaction as a result. I listen carefully to how children approach a problem, and follow their through process in determining a solution. I often guide them towards the correct way (or possible several ways) of approaching a problem, as opposed to just giving an answer, etc. I also use analogies a lot when helpingh them analyze a given problem, a demonstrate how an approach can be used to solve similar problems.
