A Little Bit About Me...

I have the unusual ability to teach in a way that each individual can relate to and on a level that they can each understand. I feel that all people can learn given the right circumstances and a teacher that understands the way that person is able to learn. Learning is a process and I approach teaching in a logical step by step fashion by which my students can relate.
As a Sociology major and an accounting student at Longwood University, I was able to gain an understanding in a variety of areas from classes in business, sociology, anthropology, psychology, english, math and the sciences. As a special educator, I am blessed to have the experience of working with both students with disabilites and students without dsabilites. I am currently a co-teacher working with English 12 students. This opportunity has given me a lot of skills in the area of English and I have also been allowed to teach a supplemental class to assist my students in further understanding the concepts and skills learned in their English class. In addition, I have taught elementary math to Algebra and I have also assisted my students with history subjects as well. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience as a teacher began when I was in the U.S. Navy, I was an Financial and Department Training instructor. After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 16 years teaching in the Virginia Beach City Schools. I have a Highly Qualified Certification in Middle school math and English. Currently I teach High School Life Skills Math and Algebra.
