As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.
I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. Working with children with special needs has allowed me to be able to get to know the student and adjust the curriculum so that the child will be able to benefit the most from!

I completed all of my field work in school 2006-2008 and completed my student teaching in 2009. During this time, I planned and taught lessons in all subjects to grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Along with teaching lessons, I also tracked students progress, and worked with students one on one to help struggling students succeed. I have worked as a tutor/ instructor at Sylvan Learning Center for the past year now. Here, I instruct students from grades Kindergarten to middle school in both Reading and Math. I teach both "Beginning Reading" and "Academic "Reading" and teach math from the 1st grade level up to pre-algebra and geometry.

I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. A Little Bit About Me...

As a college graduate I have been driven to do my best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to have the very best education. I have earned my Bachelor degree in early childhood but do not hold a teacher's certificate. I have had extensitve training in edcuation courses, and love helping children read. I have been a part of a S.M.A.R.T (Start Making A Reader Today)program and have done some teaching to my boyfriend's niece who is now reading and writing.
