I taught as an adjunct professor with JCTC for awhile and really enjoyed the students, both traditional and non-traditional. I found my teaching style fluctuated based on the needs of the students in my classes. I taught Cost Accounting and Corporate and Partnership Tax
My last position in public accounting was as a Senior Tax Manager. With Courtaulds Coatings I was the US Tax Manager, I prepared the income, franchise, excise, GST tax returns, managed the staff for sales tax preparation and compliance as well as managed all the audit activities for each. I managed the risk management for the US coatings, fibers and aerospace divisions. My preferred style of teaching is student-lead. I believe in the Socratic method, but appreciate following a curriculum, as well. I volunteer at a Montessori school and I know that getting learners of all ages interested and excited about a topic is the key to retention.
For the past two years, I have been teaching journal-writing and college classes at the Louisville Comprehensive Care MS Center. Prior to that, I have tutored students ages 7-40 in a various set of topics, primarily math and business subjects.

I am very patient with people I’ve helped in the past. Different students need different methods of teaching….. Some learn better with visual examples, while others learn better reading the material themselves. I try to discover the best way a person learns, and tailor the session to that individual. I believe the education is one of the most important gifts we can give our children, and it’s not to be taken for granted. Children need positive encouragement and constructive criticism.
