Each of us has a different way of learning but the first step is to appeal to a student's natural inquisitiveness. If they can see real life applications for the skills they are learning they will become engaged and enthusiastic. My approach is to first find out what the students know about the topic and what comfort level they are at with the material. Once I have gotten a sense of where the student is at in the learning process, we then use their current knowledge as building blocks for future lessons. I graduated with a BS in history in 1996. After nearly seven years working for a large communications corporation I returned to college to get my teaching credentials. I completed a years student teaching and have taught middle school and high school at a local private school.
