A Little Bit About Me...

I am an active teacher. I want students to understand the subject in the context of their own lives as opposed to just learning definitions. If they can realate the information to an actual happening, they are more likely to remember. In terms of test preparation, aside from learning the information it is important to work on test-taking skills (relaxation, focus, etc.). These were the main classes I taught, but I also did Spanish 1, ecology, and food science/nutrition. I also tutored some high school students in all subjects but mostly math and science.
I love helping people. I believe that no one is stupid just some people are better in some areas than other people. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching children takes patience and creativity. Each child is different in their attention span and interests. Making each subject important and interesting is one place to start. It is crucial to never let a child give up, and not to give up on them yourself. My goal in teaching is to determine which way the child learns, for example a visual learning may need to draw out spelling words, where an audible learner needs to recite them. I love to find new ways to relate what they are learning with life outside of school and in this way show them how important the subject is.
