My comments on tutoring Elementary : I'm an Elementary Education major, getting ready to finish my last semester of classes at Western Governors University. I also substitute teach for Lewis County Schools, and I volunteer in the library by assisting students with their reading. I've passed all my Praxis exams required for being a teacher in the state of Kentucky, and I LOVE KIDS. I also spent almost 9 years teaching English as a Foreign Language in China, 1 year in Beijing, 7 years in Tianjin, and 1 year in Taiwan. I've taught students from 3 years old all the way up to around 65 years old, which included pre-school, up through all of the grades of grade school, and even into college and university-level courses.

I've got around 8 years of college and university work under my belt, and I am getting ready to finish a BA in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. I love teaching. I got the teaching bug while teaching English as a Foreign Language in China. I taught there for almost 9 years altogether, 1 year in Beijing, 7 years in Tianjin, and 1 year in Taiwan. I now work as a substitute teacher for Lewis County Schools and I also volunteer in the school library where I help struggling students with reading.
I am very active in the classroom and I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable. There are so many ways to help children learn, yet many of them are not used for one reason or another. If information must be memorized, I like to put it to song or a rap. Other methods of learning that are very useful are concept maps, discussions, and performing. Another very s ... read more

Inspired Educational Help!

I consider myself a very patient tutor, which I think is essential to the process. That said, I usually offer the student a few options in which to learn the material. I then let them decide which option makes the most sense to them. I believe Education and learning is a very personal process, which is why it should be tailored to each individual differently. *I am available to help with homeschooling students. Hello! I earned my Bachelor of Arts in psychology (3.5 GPA) in 2012 and have been tutoring English; ESL; reading; writing; and more for 8 years. I began as a volunteer through my university's writing lab, per recommendation by a cherished professor. I have worked with children and adults from a variety of cultures (South Korean; Venezuelan; Mexican; Turkish), and I have enjoyed playing the role of "student" in my own regard. I love to learn about other traditions and practices. One of the most rewarding experiences for me as a tutor was when I worked with a South Korean family for 1 year. While teaching two school age boys, I was privileged to be introduced to a bevy of Asian foods; practices; and even ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Patience and listening are the two most valuable parts of my teaching style. No one learns well in a hostile or rushed environment. I believe that the potential is there for all to learn even the most difficult subject matter and it is truly a joy to see the light of understanding shine through a student's eyes. I believe that my education and experience in the disciplines I hope to tutor are just the keys needed to unlock a student's true potential so that they may truly become whatever they want to become in life.

I am a firm believer that everyone learns in a different way, given different brain functioning, personality etc. Each child has different levels of attention, and differing strengths and weaknesses, which need to be pinpointed. My approach is very loving and casual, and I always can find a way to interject fun, especially when the learning is away from the formal classroom. I have helped extensively with my nephew's progress in the past, and believe that I am very intuitive regarding each child's abilities and sensitivities. In a tutoring setting, it is especially important that the child views this as fun and helpful toward his success, so that it continues to be something to look forward to.

A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to composition is simple; think, write, repeat. This means that I use a process-oriented method as students draft and re-draft based upon the new ideas and insights which are gained through the practice of writing. I also employ post-process pedagogy, encouraging student participation in the world around them. I want them to engage with the private and public spheres. My goal for my students is to think about how ideas are intertwined across the disciplines and how the critical thinking skills learned in one course can work with the theoretical skills they learn in another. When they leave me, I want them to be self-sufficient learners who can analyze, organize and teach others what they have learned.
I am currently teaching first-year composition as a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati. I have been teaching at UC for two academic years and will gradu ... read more

I am firm believer in dynamic education, where each student is considered individually from every single point of stand. Each child/student is unique, and because of that he/she may have a different way of learning. I believe I am able to adjust to a student's learning preference, and make the teaching experience fun and effective. In my teaching strategy key steps would be: understanding the child's need, taking the time, using various tools to show different approaches to the problem, and finally show the child the importance of education, as well as implication of it in the real world!
As a student in a four year college, I have applied myself to every singe subject that there was to conquer. In some areas I shined, but it some areas I had difficulties.
