More About This Tutor...

I feel very strongly about the importance of a good education. Having a degree in English, I have much experience in using proper grammar, technical writing skills and creative writing skills. I have tutored students in the area of English, biology, history and some spanish.
I have always loved working with children. Through my experience as a special education instructor, I have learned children can learn in a variety of ways. My teaching philosophy is that each child has different strengths, and it is imperative to tailor an educational program to these strengths. By highlighting what a student is good at, their confidence is increased. This confidence will help them overcome academic obstacles. I believe that teachers play a huge role inthe success of their students, and that with the right support system, any child can acheive their academic goals.

For this reason, I believe in slow, patient study and working with a student's progress level as determined by that student’s abilities.
Piano Pedagogy, as my minor, helped me learn and analyze teaching methods. I studied piano, with weekly lessons, for 15 years of my life. I then taught piano lessons. I typically taught 25 lessons per week for 18 months. I was th ... read more
