After finishing undergraduate courses, I worked for a program that sent college students out to public schools to be Teacher's Aids. We were expected to help any students who were falling behind in a subject. The experience was so rewarding that after graduation, I took a position working with troubled students convicted of sexual assault, teaching them math and science for six months. I have worked as a paraprofessional at Springfield Elementary for the 3 years and was an after school tutor for the SES program for 2 terms for two different companies. Although I have not yet applied for certification, I am eligible for certification for Elementary Education as I have passed the FTCE K-6 certification exam.
Children are individuals and you must find their style of learning and be able to adapt your teaching style for that child. I worked full time and part time while obtaining my BA from Troy State University while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
