Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. I then moved on to being a one on one with high school students with special needs in the Baltimore area.
I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. My comments on tutoring Microsoft Office : I have proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, as acquired from the PC Specialist program of the Technical Learning Centers. I have received a Technical Diploma with a 4.0 GPA in this program.

As a student in technical logical philosophy, I soon became very interested in advanced mathematics. Once I had acquired sufficient knowledge of advanced mathematics I began tutoring mathematics in 2003. I am currently a PhD student in Computer and Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland. I have both my B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University. In addition, I have several years of experience as a teaching assistant at Bucknell. I also have several years of experience with computer science, programming for a government laboratory.
I like to try and figure out how a student goes about understanding different topics. Often times teachers teach right from the textbook, but this can be confusing and students can be left behind because they learn differently.
