My comments on tutoring Guitar : I have played guitar for years.

I am an honors graduate of U.S.F. with forty years of teaching experience. In addition to my B.A. and M.A. degrees, I completed all cousework for the ED.D. I have taught FCAT preperation in middle school in math and reading. I have also taught GED Prep in the evenings. I taught junior high math one year. I have also written two books. One is a history jokebook. The other is a memoir of humorous classroom incidents. I believe that these experiences qualify me to tutor social studies, reading, and math.
My style is student centered. I always try to provide a positive atmosphere for learning. My jokes were a technique to help accomplish that goal. As a GED teacher I always began with a pretest and documented student progress to correct any deficiencies. I believe in positive reinforcement and helping students achieve their goals which gives us both a sense of accomplishment.

I am a very patient person, but do admire and require people to be respectful in every sense of the word. I do not like sitting in front of the students begging him or her to pay attention. My best trait as a tutor is that I will not give up on my student, even if they have given up on themselves. It is my belief that most concepts can be understood if taught properly, and relate the knowledge to them in a way that would make it simple. I would describe my teaching style as very patient, supportive and goal-oriented.
