When tutoring, I try to meet the students needs by utilizing methods of teaching which take into consideration the student's learning style. I explain concepts using visual representations as well as numerical/algebraic models. I am a very patient teacher who will find various ways of explaining math concepts, until I find one that works for the student. I teach students the "why" behind the process rather than explaining the process of finding a solution by only listing a number of steps, which the students easily forget. A Little Bit About Me...

Most Math books recommend teaching for about half the class and then let students work some problems in class. I find this works well, it allows questions and the class becomes interactive. I encourge questions while I am introducing a subject and find it gives me a chance to use different examples to get a poinnt across. Any assignments I give outside the classroom can be addressed in the next class.
I started teaching right out of college. Taught high school and college part time for 6 years. Left teaching for the computer business where I worked for 36 years. Retired from HP in 2001. Went back to teaching. I taught at Mount Royal Academy in Sunapee, NH for 7 years. I taught College Algebra and Pre-Calculus at River Valley Community College i Keene, presently as an Adjunct faculty member.

As an undergraduate, I pursued great academic achievement in the area of Mathematics. Currently, I am furthering my education in the area of Statistics at the Master's level.
