I am a 2006 Taylor University graduate in Youth Ministry and Christian Education. I have worked in the classroom and churches for 8 years both full time and part time. All of these positions have helps me with my communication skills, both written and verbal. I have taught students in English, math, reading, creative art, music and science. I enjoy working with students of all ages. Currently I teach Pre-Kindergarten, but have expensive experience working with middle school and high school students. I am very patient and understanding. After graduating with honors from Grove City College, I took a position as a writer for a large nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. While working as a professional writer, I dedicated my free time to tutoring at a center for urban kids. Learning must be fun, especially in a tutoring context. In my previous tutoring experiences, I always attempted to turn tasks into games or opportunities for creative expression. For example, multiplication tables can become an opportunity to play a relay game. Learning different parts of speech can be made enjoyable by creating an imaginative story. My particular interest is helping children develop a passion for creative writing and reading.
