Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects!

I am proficient in tutoring English and any Language Arts area. I am also a journalist in my career, and would love to help anyone who is needing a little push. I am a mother to a 1st grader and my husband attends law school. I am very active in Lubbock ISD and am room mom for my daughter's class. I am also a contributing writer in my spare time.
I first ask questions to get familiar with my students teaching style and their problem areas and what they're struggling with. I am very visual so any time I can explain something using a picture, etc, I do. I am very patient and understanding.

I have been teaching for more than 35 years. I recently earned my Masters Degree in curriculum and instruction in Literacy. I have obtained certification with that degree a Master Reading Teacher and Reading Specialist. I have studied the best methods students learn and how to deliver instruction to meet their needs. Teaching style varies by student and by subject, and even varies according to my level of skill in the subject matter. I have been told that I make things that are confusing or hard to understand easy, and I love that 'I see' look in a student's eyes.
