One of my favorite feelings is that moment when a student finally grasps an elusive concept. That's why I love tutoring. Giving students that one-on-one attention, observing their stumbling blocks, and working to get past them is the best way to help students learn. I can't count the number of times I've had students tell me "Oh, that makes so much sense now!" and it's beca ... read more

ACT is one of my top subjects! Scored a 30 composite with no particular study or test prep.

I learned how to play chess about twenty years ago, it's been rather on and off since then. I've steadily improved and tried so many different ways to improve before finding the right method for myself that I'm confident in my many approaches to teaching. As far as other subjects, I graduated high school with honors back in 2003 with a 3.8 GPA, and scored a composite 30 on the ACT. I was awarded the Presidential Scholarship from Baldwin-Wallace, went there for a year, didn't like the school at all (should have researched it more...) So we have those life lesson bits too I suppose. Anyway, pretty much any subject is a go... obviously let me know details beforehand so I can brush up on things if necessary!
I employ a personalized teaching style, very interactive. Instead of just answering a question or stating why something is the way it is, we'll work it out so there is real underst ... read more

My comments on tutoring ACT : I have tutored students through several Non-Profit organizations in Cleveland to prepare for the ACT. I wrote an interactive math education software program to assist students in reparation for the ACT.

I have over 15 years as a succesful instructor and tutor (middle school, high school, under graduate and graduate students)of mathematics, computer science (computer programing)and business courses including accounting, finance, statistics, economis, medical dosage calculations, hospital information statistics, etc. I also founded my Company, Alpha Omega Education and Training Systems,Ltd., in 2001. This Company develops interactive math education software for schools, collges and individuals.
Punctual - prepared and professional. I look at learning rep. styles of students (pictorial, word or kinesthehic). I try to make the learning experience as painless as possible (especially math). I start with pre-tests to gauge where a student is at, then follow-up with teaching content and finish with a post-test to gauge learing objectives that have been met. Depending on the subject, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My experiences as an educator have been numerous and continuous throughout my life. I have a Bachelor in Education 1-8th (Science) I have taught all subjects. Actually I am multilingual. I am native Spanish speaker; I can read, write; translate in my language of origin. I also have five years of French, I read and translate better then speaking fluently the reason I really do have anyone to practice speaking the French language. Currently I am teaching myself Farsi (Persian) language, beside Farsi, Japanese. I worked the Berlitz language agency, in which they taught me how to teach any language in the world without really know the language. This method is called the “Berlitz method”

I thoroughly enjoyed the Marketing and Public Relations field, but I never could have imagined the fulfillment I would recieve within education. I love to challenge my students and show them just how much they can achieve through hard work and dedication. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's face when they achieve a good grade or positive praise. Each time I tutor a child, my day is brightened- how lucky am I!!??
After working in the Marketing/PR field for 5 years, I relocated to Puerto Rico to be with my husband. Not having a solid foundation of the language, I could not obtain a job in my previous field. It was at this time that I discovered the world of education. I began substitute teaching at the Department of Defense School and continued doing that for one year. We were then relocated to Savannah, GA and I was hired by a private school to teach 6th and ... read more

Teaching science is my greatest passion, as I feel many people have many misconceptions in the field. I am patient, but firm, and acclimate to the climate and the students around me to best facilitate learning. I am always available by email to my students, and will do anything I can to help an eager student. It is important, in the sciences, for students to conduct their own research and to be active learners, as in my experience, this is vital to the retention of information. I enjoy teaching a variety of topics and feel that any student can learn and enjoy any subject when within a positive and encouraging atmosphere. My ultimate goal is to foster a love of science in every student I teach.

I have worked in education for more than six years and am very dedicated to fostering student growth and development. I genuinely love teaching and tutoring students. My years in education have taught me that every child can learn and succeed but I also believe that each student learns differently and tutoring must be individualized to meet that student’s needs. I also believe that it is vitally important to assist students to develop a love of learning. I am organized, focused and thorough, yet I am laid-back and relaxed and use humor in tutoring and teaching; I feel this helps students to see learning as fun rather than a chore. I feel my style of teaching is one of being a facilitator. I choose to interact with the student by asking questions so enabling them to reach the answer through their own thinking processes. The excitement of seeing their confidence build as they realize they can figure out problems independently is the reward of being an educator. I believe my job is to guide and support the student.
My teaching experience started teaching in a pre-school with 4 year olds. I then taught 3rd grade for 1 year and kindergarten for 9 years. When I updated my certificate (just in the last year) I did some teaching in a mildly handicapped resource room.

A Little Bit About Me...

I grew up in a family that values education so much that we were living in a state of war in Lebanon and still running from one school to the other. This instilled in me a great amount of love and appreciation towards education. During High school, I joined “Shabibat EL-Makassed”, a community service program, where I participated in public speech and writing contests, in addition to community service activities. In summer of 2000, I joined the Lebanese Red Cross where we conducted many seminars and activities to educate young and senior citizens about several issues in the health field. My experiences during high school and in the Red Cross made me value the feeling that one gets when helping others; it was the best feeling I ever experienced. When I moved to the US, I joined the Student Support Services program at the University of Toledo and started tutoring college students in many su ... read more

Learning is always easier when it is fun and interesting. In any given teaching situation I look for ways to add zest to learning. At the outset of tutoring I do an assessment of where students are currently achieving in a specific subject area, and identify skills that they may be lacking. Next, I develop a learning plan with specific goals. This becomes the basis for a learning contract between myself and the person seeking tutoring. Learning is best achieved in an interactive teaching style where students are encouraged to ask questions and participate in problem solving. I am a patient person who believes that all students can successfully learn.
My undergraduate years at Princeton University instilled in me a passion for learning and a personal commitment to academic excellence. Most of my adult work life has been focused on coaching individuals to overcome handicaps and maxi ... read more

I have tutoring experience in mathematics at the secondary and high school levels. One example of tutoring at the secondary level was when I tutored an eighth grade student in pre-algebra to improve his math skills to prepare him for high school algebra. The result of this particular tutoring was that the student began to understand and enjoy math, which was one of my goals. His grades subsequently rose from the "C" level to an "A" level. I have also had the privilege of tutoring high school and college age students in math, accounting, economics and finance and have enjoyed watching them succeed and move to a higher level.
I consider myself a very energetic, competent tutor who considers teaching an art. I enjoy working with students to help them achieve their full potential. In many situations, the main reason that students struggle in learning and grasping certain academic s ... read more
