I have a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education with emphasis on Biological Sciences and Earth Sciences. I was a teacher in the public school system for 6 years. I taught Science from grade 7 through senior level, encompassing Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Physics. I went on to Medical School, where I got my Degree in Osteopathic Medicine. During Medical School, I was a tutor at Greenbrier Community College in the areas of Math and Science. My teaching style is definitely one of facilitator. I present the material in a fashion, which allow students to experiment and develop their critical thinking and problem solving skills. From these skills the students will learn how to approach and solve the problems they are given. Students need to experience success and will do so. Failure is not an option. I will do what is necessary to make sure the skills are learned.
As a graduate in Elementary Education, I have taught for 30 years in all subject areas, but have concentrated the last 15 years in the area of Math. I have also tutored students. I have been involved in all levels of education ranging from 4th grade to 8th grade. I have also taught Algebra to students as part of the Mathematics programs, in which I have taught.
