My teaching style is to find out what a student is good at and build on that success to improve areas of concern. To me, learning is best exemplified by an engaged and interested student asking informed and critical questions of the material assigned. I believe that students are more apt to achieve such education in a relaxed atmosphere. As the instructor, I may know more than the student(s), but this does not necessarily imply that I am the more insightful or intelligent person. I have always loved working with children. My teaching style is friendly, and casual, but still quite demanding. I try to create a comfortable and fun tutoring environment, but within that environment I challenge my students to work past their difficulties to reach levels of achievement they may not have previously believed themselves capable of. In order to create this environment I tend to incorporate games, novels, and fun worksheets that are right at the edge of a student's comfort level into my lessons.
