Students generally perform better with hands-on practice. I provide multiple opportunities for hands-on and guided practice as time permits. Associate new concepts to familiar ones. Our memories are largely associative in nature. Therefore, providing connections from new concepts back to well established ones increases our retention and recall. This is especially important in building up understanding in mathematics. Provide relevant examples. A student who is actively enaged in the lesson will learn more.
For the past two years, I have been working as an adjunct instructor and tutor in mathematics and computer information systems for a local Community College. This experience has been so fulfilling, that I am diligently pursuing a career change from Information Technology professional to teaching. I also taught mathematics for one year at a private school.

I am a fair and open-minded teacher. My style is conservative and I like starting and finishing tasks. I am a native of Chapel Hill and a 1985 graduate of North Carolina State University-Business Management. I also have an Accounting Degree 1994-North Carolina State University.
I have a small professional accounting office. I have been a NC CPA for 10 years. I would like to help supplement student learning, and have experience dealing with various individual and business owners and employees from the business sector. I am also looking for summer work.
