As a mother of two young children, I want to see all children exceed. Children learn through positive reinforcement and by slowly building confidence, as his or her work improves. Childen should not be made to feel inferior, but need approriate teachings to fit his or her personalities. All it takes is a little confidence to start off with, keep encouraging and praising, and this can be achieved when the tutor works with the child based on his individual strength to learn. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored students in math and science (mainly math) for over 13 years. I have helped students in various levels of mathematics - basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. After working with me on a consistent basis (2/3 days/week) many of the students have received honors in their math courses, including "Most Improved" and "Highest Average". I am also proud to say that a couple of students have actually decided to pursue careers that require a good understanding of math - i.e. engineering, architecture.
I enjoy working with students of all ages, although most of my experience has been with middle school age and older. A teacher must care about people. It is not enough to have the knowledge of the material. You must be very aware of body language and read the group to determine if you need to restate the concept. A good teacher will ask a question and will not answer until a group discussion occurs. A good teacher ensures the group feels comfortable to think outside the box withou fear of embarrassment. Use of several medias in addition to course material is key to keep the attention of the group. However, again, none of this is effective if you do not have a genuine desire to see the knowledge you have of the material transferred to the individuals receiving the message.
