As a college graduate I was motivated to find a job and begin my career. I have decided that after three and a half years of hard work through school and a gratifying 3 years of labratory experience (including 6 months of post-graduate full time work) that I am not ready for a career in chemistry. I have decided to slow the pace down and enjoy life for a while. I have lived in Aspen since December and worked for the SkiCo for that time. My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. As teachers it is our job to meet the needs of all learners. I do not believe in presently material in one way, or one way all the time. I am a graduate of both the University of Colorado and Adams State College. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Education as well as a Initial Teacher's license. I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. I also have experience as a mentor to young people through the YMCA.

I am a retired Boulder valley teacher and I have taught from the preschool to college level for over 20 years. Most recently, I worked as an ESL and reading teacher. My training was modeled after reading recovery and involved one year of supervised teaching one-on-one with children who were struggling readers. The goal of this training is to help children work with their strengths as readers, rather than focusing on their weaknesses. Children learn the strategies that they need in order to be successful, independent readers. The work I do with them is very focused and begins with a thorough diagnostic assessment of their reading abilities. I have six years of experience working one-on-one with children to improve their reading. I also have extensive experience teaching and writing with both native English speakers and second language learners from the elementary to college level.

I have been teaching Spanish for 5 years and taught ESL for two years when I lived in Spain. I went to Spain to improve my Spanish and I recommend my students to study abroad! It is the best way to learn/practice the language as well as really get to know the culture. Right now, I am tutoring - working for myself and/or companies. Spanish is my expertise, yet, I can help, teach, tutor students in Middle School or younger in English, Science and Social Studies.
