As a Reading Specialist, I have advanced training in literacy and am licensed to teach in all related areas from grades K - 12 by the Ohio Department of Education. I have a great joy working with children because most of them are eager to learn. Along with patience and proper instruction I am a firm believer the scores will be achieved without the child feeling diappointed. I believe through visual picture walks and other techniques children want to be successful and make their parents and teachers happy. Having the right teacher, and right attitude which I have both the tutor and parent along with the teacher can see a change. A Little Bit About Me...

I try to set high standards in order to prepare students for future work. I like to ask questions which stimulate students to think about big ideas. I prefer to use Discussion-based teaching when applicable.
I have taught classes at the college level since 2004. These include U.S. History surveys, the Civil War, African-American History, and others. I have worked mostly with teenagers in these classes. Recently, I tutored high school students at Dr. Linda Pearson's Reading and Math Center in Birmingham, AL. I am very comfortable working with students to improve their reading and writing abilities.
