Learn while having fun. My methods achieve results.

Very relaxed fun. Making the student feel comfortable and letting them figure the solution out on their own with as little imput as possible. Sort of like spotting in weighlifting. I also focus on a holistic method which is about understanding the problem with as little memorization is possible. The idea is if you can understand the concept then it is very easy to apply the answer with very little modification.
Held Study 2 hour sessions with over 10 students 3-5 times per week in Engineering Schools. Classes included: Calculus 1 & 2, Statics and Dynamics. Also did indivdual sessions. Was highly recommended and considered the best tutoror i Engineering. Have been a financial adivisor so I have held many seminars and had many face to face with clients teaching them about money. Socratic, I like the students to build on what they already know so that it becomes an extension of their long term memory not another short term memory soon forgotten. I have found ways to connect almost any subject matter from physics to algebra to chemistry nomenclature into something one already knows. If one uses long term memory pegs one can "file" things in memory and recall with very little effort.

A Little Bit About Me...

During college I worked for NMSU and CYFD providing two types of tutoring services. With NMSU I worked with fellow college students in classes that I previously passed, which mainly included Accounting and Math. With CYFD I worked with young mothers trying to obtaining their GED. I helped create good study habits and tutored them in all areas included in the GED; Social Studies, Math, Language Arts, and Science. While in college I took several communication classes which had presentations in front of 100 or more students. I took intermediate algebra along with statistics and business calculus. I work with computers on a regular basis (including the internet and Microsoft Office) and have taken several advanced excel courses.

I have done much sales and customer service work, as well as teaching. I think listening is key, recognizing the humanity in each person, and relating to it while communicating. In teaching, setting expectations is important... expectations of what the goal is; what they will learn, and then adapting it to the abilities of that individual. Again, as I said, I think listening is key, and empathizing with the individual. Of course you have to set standards, such as homework expected, and tests (as a teacher).

I believe that in order for students to obtain knowledge, they must develop some level of interest in the subject. As a teacher, I try to understand the student's mind in order to present the material in such a way that it will fit together with the student's preexisting knowledge. If a student is passionate about sports or video games, I try and use examples and metaphors from those respective areas within the lessons. Students must to be shown rather than told why a subject is important, and I believe that effective learning happens when teachers build on the knowledge base that students have already developed experientially throughout their lives.
