Having enjoyed mathematics and especially calculus in high school, I decided to major in Mechanical Engineering so that I would be able to enjoy the many math courses that were required. I excelled in Calculus during my studies at Pensacola Christian College. I had the opportunity to help a few other students with their Calculus and other subjects during my Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years. I still enjoy mathematics and would like to tutor students again.
I like to try to explain concepts in a way that I believe my student will find easy to understand. If I find that they do not understand I will try a different method of explaining the concept. I often like to use sketches so students can visualize what is being taught or story problems so they can see some practical applications of how the concept can be used to solve problems.

Every student is different. They all have different experiences and learning styles. Sometimes teachers can just try to explain concepts and ideas the way that they understand things. I like to first ask students questions to help me understand where they are, what they specifically do and do not understand. This helps me to figure out how to help the student. Also in my experience, teachers teach only one method of solving a specific problem and that way may not be easy for that student. I like to explain many methods so the student can choose the method he or she understands. Every student can achieve academic success.
