I lived in Chile for almost two consecutive years, and studied in Costa Rica for a short time. My B.A. is in Anthropology and Spanish, and my M.S. is in International Studies. I attended a preparatory school in Junior High and High School. I then went on to Mississippi College where I obtained a Bachelor degree in Home Economics with an emphysis on Fashion Merchandising. When I became a mom, I decided to home school my kids so that I could take an active part in their education and I could guide them in ways that someone else might not find interesting or important.
I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct. My teaching style completely depends on the learner. In a classroom setting, I am fairly relaxed and ensure that students feel confident and able to communicate without fear. My lessons address each of the learning styles so that every student has the opportunity to utilize their strengths when it comes to processing information. In a one-on-one setting, I tend to teach mostly to the style of the individual student. However, I vary the methods of that style to prevent monotony. I still utilize the non-dominant learning styles so students can begin to develop a holistic approach to learning, but if something flat out does not work, I will try a different approach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I volunteer at City Rescue Mission. I have tutored children with their homework for more then 6 months. I continue to work at Rose State College as a math tutor in subjects up to College Algebra. I have earned a bachelor degree from UCO in forensic science which required knowledge of Calculus.
I like to initially view the student’s way of working out the problems. This way I know what they do well and where they are making mistakes, and the places I can help them do better. I am very patient and able to break down things so the student will understand. I love math and like teach it to others.

I enjoy helping people in any way that I can. I would like to help your child be able to understand what he or she does not have a good grasp on as well as hopefully teach them how to be academically successful. While teaching my father how to use the computer, I learned patience. While employed at the high school, I learned that not only does every child learn at a different rate, but what works for one, does not work for everyone. This knowledge gave me the ability to be creative in figuring out how to best help each student, whether it was reading something aloud to give the student a better understanding of the subject or using an example that the student would understand rather than those in the book.
