I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct. Hands-on learning and learning through experience always leaves a lasting impression. Just memorizing facts, although in some cases that is necessary, it is just not fun for all students and just may not stick unless learned in a fun way. I want to make learning fun because no one should ever stop learning. There is just too much out there to sit back and let life pass you by.

My teaching style completely depends on the learner. In a classroom setting, I am fairly relaxed and ensure that students feel confident and able to communicate without fear. My lessons address each of the learning styles so that every student has the opportunity to utilize their strengths when it comes to processing information. In a one-on-one setting, I tend to teach mostly to the style of the individual student. However, I vary the methods of that style to prevent monotony. I still utilize the non-dominant learning styles so students can begin to develop a holistic approach to learning, but if something flat out does not work, I will try a different approach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies where my areas of emphasis were Spanish, History and Family Studies. I do not have a lot of teaching/tutoring experience, but I am looking forward to expanding that type of work. My experience in this area has been in three major areas—helping out in Sunday School, teaching my father how to use the computer—which is a continuing process, and at a local high school where I worked as a para-educator.
