A Little Bit About Me...

As a college graduate I have been driven to do my best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to have the very best education. I have earned my Bachelor degree in early childhood but do not hold a teacher's certificate. I have had extensitve training in edcuation courses, and love helping children read. I have been a part of a S.M.A.R.T (Start Making A Reader Today)program and have done some teaching to my boyfriend's niece who is now reading and writing. I love teaching children and helping them is helping myself out as a person.

Life is the greatest teacher. Throughout my life I have been presented with numerous opportunities to expand upon my natural abilities. At a young age I was bilingual in English & Spanish which opened up opportunities for me to informally translate in my community. I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. Working with children with special needs has allowed me to be able to get to know the student and adjust the curriculum so that the child will be able to benefit the most from!
As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.

I enjoy working with children, waiting for the "ah ha" moment to arrive. When it does, there is nothing, like it. I believe strongly in the saying "there are no bad students, only bad teachers". I believe that every student is capable of learning, the trick is to find a way that makes it real and applicable to each individual student. I believe that the keys to success are student motivation, the tutor's flexibility and lots of patience.
