A Little Bit About Me...

I am passionate about encouraging young people to achieve and surpass their full potential academically and personally. My experience as a Young Life Leader has given me the joy of mentoring high school students for 5 years. I have taught students ranging from different levels of Gardner's Multiple Intelligences as well as varying socioeconomic status. I welcome the challenge of meeting the educational needs of individual students. I believe that all students can be successful in math and it is my desire to see them achieve that level of success to gain self-confidence. A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduation from West Virginia University I received a BS degree in Forensic and Investigative Science with an emphasis in Chemistry and Examination. The emphasis means that I have chemistry qualifications required to perform analysis in a lab. I have taken everything from Chemistry in high school to several courses beyond Organic I and II. I was a member of the NHS and had the responsibility of tutoring students in high school level math, chemistry, and biology. During my internship with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, I aided in teaching courses to a youth group centered around Forensics. This past semester I worked as a Teaching Assistant and taught a general organic chemistry lab.

I enjoy teaching children at all levels. I find that children learn at different speeds and by different means. So, to be truly effective you have to present the information to the broadest base of students and hope you address all their needs. Having a great level of flexibility in your lesson plans is need to ensure that no one student falls behind.
Over the past year, I served as an Americorps volunteer in an inner city charter school with an emphasis on character education. I worked one on one with students helping them with math, reading, and science skills. I assisted in classroom teaching of mini lessons too.
