I have had 5 years of different math classes. I have always passed with either an A or B. Math has always been my favorite subject. I have taken pre-algebra, algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry. Geometry is my favorite because you arent just using regular math skills. It takes a little more thinking amd problem solving but once you get the hang of it, its fun and easy.

For math problems, I usually work problems and explain each step, and then have the student attempt to work a similiar one when they feel like they understand the problems. I try to be as helpful as possible while still focusing on the goal of total understanding for the student, as well as the ability to work a similiar problem independently with confidence. For paper writing, I would have the student brainstorm some ideas, and then together we could discuss the pro's and con's of the topic and organization choice, and provide tips on how we could better the assignment. I am willing to give as much or as little help as a parent would prefer, as good grades are one goal but the students mastery of the material is the most important.

I spent a lot of my work there helping high school students get ready for the math portion of the SAT, but I also worked with students on their school studies (in calculus, college and high school algebra, and geometry). Most recently, I spent about five months working as a math tutor at Sylvan Learning Center in Jackson, MS.
