Experience Summary
I have helped tutor since I was a freshman in high school. I began working with kindergarteners through third grade students on reading and writing. Throughout my sophomore year of high school I tutored middle school math students (ages 11-14) and helped to train our "Mathalon" team. My junior and senior years of high school I mostly helped biology students prepare for the regents exams, as well as continued in the after school reading program for kindergarteners and preschoolers. In college I began tutoring many students for the spanish regents exam and continued helping others prepare for their biology and chemistry regents exams. Although I have not had the opportunity to officially tutor many college students, I was a Teaching Assistant for BIOL101 and CHEM101 (freshman level chemistry and biology) for SUNY Cortland.
Teaching Style
Everyone absorbs knowledge differently so it is important to cater to each student's particular needs. I am a very hands-on learner and I feel that is the best way to be taught, especially outside of a classroom setting. By getting the body involved in the learning process, the mind is kept stimulated.
