To whom it may concern,
I am certified to teach special education from kindergarten through twelfth grade, as well as general education from first through sixth. I have been teaching special education for ten years in a 12:1:1, ICT and resource classroom. I have taught a variety of grades such as pre-K, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th as well as 9th to 12th grades. I have been afforded the opportunity to work with students of different ages, grades, ability levels, emotional challenges and disabilities. As an educator I feel that over the years I have been able to put educational theory into practice and fine-tune my educational philosophy based on my experience. Through all of these experiences in working predominately with emotionally disturbed students it has allowed me the opportunity enhanced my ability to be a strong guidance counselor.
I would love to have the opportunity to collaborate with the staff and to be able to teach our students the skills to close the learning gap and give them the tools so they will be able to continue down a successful path. I am a very determined individual with a strong work ethic and am always eager to learn new things. I am able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. I feel that because of this, I am an ideal candidate for your educational team. I am looking to transition from being a teacher full time to the exciting world of school guidance counseling.
I will be relocating to the Jacksonville, Florida as of July 1, 2013. I will be graduating from Seton Hall University in August with my school counseling degree. I am continuing on to pursue my Ed.S degree and will graduate May of 2014.
Sincerely yours,
Elyce M Garceau
