Experience Summary
As a recent graduate of the University of Oregon History Department, I have spent the last two years working with peers to enhance their ability to research, comprehend, and explain historical events through writing. This experience includes courses in Grammar and Literature as well as History of both the U.S. and the world. With a string of A-grades at the 400-level, I believe I am now prepared to help others find similar success by following some simple advice and encouragement.
Teaching Style
Motivation. Hard work is made even harder when we don't enjoy the subject; for example, History can easily become boring and impossible to follow for young, energetic minds. When these events are brought to life, however, and made personally relevant to the student as part of our shared past, we may inspire curiosity which is the prime quality of a young scholar. Grammar and literature can also be tiresome and difficult, but their relevance is much easier to validate as reading and writing will always be crucial skills for our future leaders.
