Experience Summary
While attending High School, I was involved with the Special Education students as an aide, in addition to running a classroom of 2 and 3 year olds at a child care facility. I am currently a student (Senior) at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. The degree that I am striving for is English and Special Education (P-5), which will also certify me for general education. Over the course of four years that I have been at Monmouth University, I have observed and taught in many elementary schools ranging from grades Pre-K to 8th. The subjects that I love the most are Literacy and Mathematics.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children are capable of learning; however it is important to remember that children have various learning styles. Some children may be auditory, textile or visual learners. My approach to teaching is a hands-on style where students can learn material through experience and discovery. My goal is to provide students with a good education while giving them strategies for learning and studying. I believe that if students are not understanding a certain subject, it is important to change the style of teaching to better suit the child. Although I have never tutored students before, I believe that I am a good candidate because I am hard working, patient, flexible and kind.
