Experience Summary
Over the past six years, I have been a collegiate instructor, a private tutor, and a tutor for elementary, middle school, and high school students in science, math, reading comprehension, writing, and history.
All of my students’ grades improved significantly within a month of tutoring (3x a week), and teachers often noted increased understanding and enthusiasm in the classroom.
I have a true passion for teaching science and math, as well as a rigorous educational background and specialized research experience. I earned a B.S. in Biology, Marine Science, Chemistry, and Journalism, a M.S. in Biological Sciences, and PhD candidacy in Biological Oceanography.
Teaching Style
Do your science or math classes have you frustrated? These subjects can be complex, but I have over six years of experience turning them into manageable, even fun, topics. I use analogies, case studies, current events, and that student’s particular interests to keep subjects interesting.
I tailor my lessons to the unique learning styles of each student. My students learn by gaining a true understanding of the subject and not by regurgitation of random facts – memorized information alone tends to be forgotten immediately after the test.
In addition, my background in journalism has honed my ability to synthesize information and convey complex information in a straightforward manner.
