Changing The World, One Child AT A Time

I was an assistant teacher to a 3rd grade class at Wilson's Mills Elementary from 2001 until 2003. My duties included assisted the teacher and helping the students in a manner to help them learn at their pace. And I also have an 8 year old son who attends River Dell Elementary. I help him on a daily basis with his homework, which includes math, reading and writing. I love kids and it brings great joy to my life to see the smile on their faces when they learn something new, or figure out the answer to a problem they are working on.

My experiences working with students of all ages and skill levels have allowed me to understand the importance of discovering what each individual needs to be successful. First, I believe in establishing strong foundations, so a student is not trying to learn advanced concepts when they need the basics. Also, I use repetition as a learning tool – especially for math-based subjects – because some things just take practice. I have experience teaching 2 years in a doctor's office (Vision therapy)I have kept children in my home (home day care) for over 5 years. I worked in a hospital setting for 5 years, clerical work. I love teaching children through unique and innovative methods, whether it be through songs in order to help with memorization or presenting the students with real life situations to navigate through.
