Love Kids, Love Writing.

I believe each student is different; therefore, I change how I approach my teachings based upon the individual.
In high school, I was on our school's speech team, I competed at the varsity level all throughout high school. I placed at every competetion, without fail. I placed in advanced English classes in high school, and tested in to the second level of English classes at Western Illinois University my freshman year. I have won state wide writing competetions, and have a poem published in a book of young writers. I went to school for Journalism and Communications, but am currently taking a year off. I have also taken and passed the Illinois basic skills test, and took 2 years of Special Education courses at Western Illinois University.

Making A Difference

In May 2012, I received my bachelors degree in English with a Literature Emphasis and a minor in Writing. I graduated with a 3.6 g.p.a. (Cum Laude Honors.) Throughout college, I took various education courses that focused on educational philosophy and physiology, elementary and secondary concentrations, and students with disabilities. I was able to obtain 36 education credits and in 2009, I was admitted into the school of education at my university where I was able to engage in student teachings, researchers, and observations. In 2011, I participated in the student outreach program where I would visit elementary, middle, and high schools to tutor them in English, Math, or Science and guide them through the learning process. I have spent the last 10 years educating young adults in both high school and college. I have taught in brick and mortar schools and in online institutions. In both, I have worked with students who are strong, natural learners who just need help fine tuning their writing and processing their ideas. I have also worked with students who struggle with every aspect of English from the reading of literature to getting their thoughts down on paper. My own time in graduate school has helped me to develop my finesse with grammar, word choice, sentence structure and organization. It is these skills I hope to help develop in my students in respect to their writing, from the most basic writer to the most skilled writer.
