After receiving a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Youngstown University, Youngstown, Ohio I was employed by the Crestwood Schools, Mantua, Ohio to teach instrumental music. I taught this subject at the middle school level while assisting with the high school program. My entire thirty year career in instrumental music was with the Crestwood School System. During my tenure at Crestwood Middle School the instrumental music program evolved into a vital program within the school involving four bands and over 250 students. During these years and to the present I still am involved in private music lessons and aiding music stores with their instrument recruitment process. My teaching style is based on student needs and abilities. I feel that every child is capable of learning and enjoying music as well as any other subject. When I started at UCF, I was invited to join a cohort of students who were on the path to become Educators, the STEP Program. This allowed me early on to get into a classroom and volunteer with students. These early experiences made me know for certain that my passion was in teaching. In Spring 2010, my degree in Elementary Education was conferred. Over the summer I worked for a Girl Scout day camp, and then was hired by the Citrus Council. I started tutoring with a company in the fall of 2010, and I love my work there so much. I am looking to be able to tutor more children, and expand my experience. I like to teach in an "I do, we do, you do" way. I take the skill and demonstrate it for my student. I have an undergraduate and master's degree, both focused in religious studies. I taught for two years at a private school here in Orlando. I taught middle school English and Bible. I have also been working with Valencia Community College (east campus) as a tutor for many different subject areas. I have also done some tutoring on the side in reading, grammar, math, religion, history, etc. I really love working with young people and helping them to reach their full potential. As a tutor, I do not teach the material necessarily, but I help to facilitate the learning process and reiterate what has already been explained and taught in the classroom (hopefully). I enjoy helping students learn, no matter what the subject is. Young people truly are the future, and as an educator I feel compelled to invest in their academic experience.
