Helping Your Child Reach His Potential

I have tutored elementary children one on one for about 2 years now. I did my student teaching at Friendship Christian School in Raleigh. I enjoy teaching children to read and am proficient in teaching mathematics to younger children. I do well teaching one on one with no distractions. I am firm, but not mean. When it is time to tutor, nothing else is allowed but schoolwork.
My thing is repetition. Writing everything out and practice, practice, practice. Memorize to learn, not memorize just to pass a test. I want the kids to KNOW their material.

Reading is one of my top subjects! I hold a Masters in Literacy from NC State University. Currently I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy and will hold this certification until 2019. My teaching style is very flexible depending on the student. I select programs which best fits the student, rather than forcing a student into a specific program that I prefer. Changing The World, One Child AT A Time

I was an assistant teacher to a 3rd grade class at Wilson's Mills Elementary from 2001 until 2003. My duties included assisted the teacher and helping the students in a manner to help them learn at their pace. And I also have an 8 year old son who attends River Dell Elementary. I help him on a daily basis with his homework, which includes math, reading and writing.
