I have found that hands-on learning works the best, where some guidance is provided at the beginning of the assignment and then allowing the student to work on the assignment with some assistance. When the student finishes, I've found that doing a walk through where we both go through the assignment and look at the mistakes works best. I started learning German in my senior year of high school (Cary High) and immediately fell in love with the language and all of it's nuances and complexities. When I started college I knew that I wanted to continue with German and it eventually became my major. Throughout college I improved my proficiency by listening to songs in German, watching films without subtitles, and reading news articles in German. I have experience proof reading papers and homework assignments and tutoring friends throughout college.
