I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology with a concentration in microbiology. I also have minors in leadership and Chemistry. Therefore my understanding of the sciences and basic mathematics is quite extensive. For two years in school I tutored in mainly Chemistry but I also tutored in Chemistry applied mathematics such as statistics, geometry and algebra. I do not like to teach out of textbooks. I use them primarily as resources. I prefer to create a lesson or activity that plays to the strengths of the individual child/student and challenges them on their particular level. I have found interactive lessons are very effective for all age ranges.
I spent 2 years tutoring Math for the students in my Mothers classroom afterschool (4th grade).
