I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology with a concentration in microbiology. I also have minors in leadership and Chemistry. Therefore my understanding of the sciences and basic mathematics is quite extensive. For two years in school I tutored in mainly Chemistry but I also tutored in Chemistry applied mathematics such as statistics, geometry and algebra. I also was an EMT for five years and as part of my duties I mentored the new EMTs. I also, as a senior EMT member, hosted many Girl Scout and Boy Scout events.
I am a firm believer that the science subjects are not as difficult as many students are afraid they are. In my past tutoring experiences I like to allow the student to explain to me in their terms their understanding of the subject. I then fill in the gaps or revise their understanding. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all children can learn if they are motivated to do so. Therefore, I believe that the best way to teach a child is to do it in a way that will allow them to take the initiative in their own learning. I want the children to enjoy learning through discovery of the material in their own unique way (not how I want them to learn). I firmly believe in Howard Gardner's theories of multiple intelligences which states that everybody has their own way of learning whether it's visual, auditory, kinesthetic etc...
I currently have a BA in Liberal Studies (Education) from Cal-State Northridge. During my years at this university, I took classes to work in the elementary school setting and as a result, have observed and participated in various elementary school settings from Kindergarten through the 5th grade.
