I have two years experience teaching reading to struggling readers through America Reads. One of my students in this program went from the lowest reading group to the highest. During this time I also attended training specific to reading tutoring and weekly meetings with other tutors to discuss strategies and share ideas. I also have a degree in Elementary Education. I believe in instilling a love of learning in the reader that lasts a lifetime. In order to achieve this I work hard to find books for the child to read that sparks a passion within the child. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well.
