My teaching style all depends on the subject and the student. Everyone learns differently. Unfortunately, the public school system seems to disagree with that. I begin by assessing the type of learner you are and from there I pick my teaching style. I have experience in and outside of the classroom in all of the fields I listed. From a 4.0 G.P.A to sales office growth I have learned a lot and am eager to share my experience in order to help others. English is and will always be my favorite subject. I have done speech writing and presenting to essay competitions. God blessed me with a way with words and I have used it to excel in many areas of my life.

I want your child to be able to feel comfortable to ask questions. A lot of students are scared to look "less than" in front of their peers if they ask questions. English and Literature are subjects meant to be questioned and not just read. I believe that your child has every capability to learn and my job is to help them turn on the light bulb to help them see that reading and writing aren't as hard as they seem to be. I have student taught since my senior year in high school as a credit. I have tutored family members and coworkers. I am currently a third year student at Glendale Community College (GCC) and my major is Secondary Education in English. I student taught Senior English last semester and this experience has proved that this is the place that I want to be. I plan on going to ASU in the Fall of 2019 to continue my education.

I would describe my teaching style as straight-forward, but constructive and rewarding. I believe patience is important and that small successes lead to larger ones. I understand that each student has different needs and learning styles vary, therefore I work to tailor my methods to the individual student while keeping the information plain to reduce confusion. I believe that teaching is about supporting students to reach their full potential and enrich their lives. I began tutoring in elementary school. I tutored students in grades below mine in reading, spelling, grammar, math, and science. I continued tutoring fellow students in high school, as well as teaching children as a church volunteer. My teaching style is quite organized, but also empathetic. I allow for students to use their various aptitudes and abilities to learn. For example, when a student normally presents a report to the class, that student reads from his notes. I had one student who was musically inclined and played her guitar to make her presentation. She used her musical skills quite effectively. I am currently certified in the state of Arizona in the following subjects: English, Latin and general sciences. I teach two courses of Latin at Glendale Community College, Glendale, Arizona. One class is in the classroom and the other is on the Internet. I also am a substitute teacher in Peoria, Arizona.

I play guitar and write songs and sing. I have two CD's on CDBaby.com. I also have four books I've written on Amazon so I would like to teach writing and perhaps reading as well. I also play drums and lead drumming circles. I am a motivational speaker and writer, my last book being motivational in nature.I have taught creative writing as an adjunct back East at the junior college level. I am very hands on and believe in folks learning from their mistakes. I make people write and then go over it with them believing that writers are made not born and the same with musicians. I strongly believe every student is capable of learning. My experience in the classroom has taught me to respect every student and hold each one to incredibly high expectations. I am relaxed, patient, and always looking for ways to foster conceptual understanding of the material, rather than rote memorization. I believe inspiring and encouraging students is a teacher's most important job. As a high school chemistry teacher, I am passionate about making science fun and understandable. I am currently pursuing my master's degree in secondary education from Arizona State University. I earned a bachelor's degree in journalism while completing the pre-medicine track at the University of Arizona. My work as a science journalist and my science background make me particularly well-equipped to tutor students in chemistry, biology, and English.
