While working to obtain a degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mississippi, I was able to experience a variety of tutoring and instructional techniques in the K-6 grades. Each semester I was assigned to specific grade levels that allowed me to work with instructors and students. I was given opportunities to tutor students throughout the semester through assignments, projects, and volunteering. I have instructional experience and have tutored students in grade levels K-6 during my four years at the University of Mississippi. I obtained a certification to teach General Science grades 7-12 while working on my minor in Geology, and a certification to teach English grades 7-12. I started working in the school system in 2001 volunteering as a tutor for at risk kids. I tutored numerous mathematic course for over 6 years. I have earned a one bachelor degree in biology and hope to earn my second degree in mathematics as well as in education. I have learned to do research and solve proofs. I worked at MUS biology lab under Dr. Gary Ervin for a year and I did research on wetland and plants. I have written numerous research papers and have numerous skills in the labatory. My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise. After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.
