A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating from Vanderbilt University I taught 5th grade for 2 years while working on my Master's at TSU. I then moved to the Knoxville area and taught K until my son was born in 2000. We then moved to Wisconsin where I taught in various after school programs until my 2 children were old enough for preschool. I then went back part time and taught 4 K until my 3rd child was born in 2005. Throughout this entire time I tutored various children ages 8 - 15 years if age.
My teaching style can best be described as varied! I believe that children learn in numerous ways, so as an educator it is my responsibility to provide multiple experiences - visual, oral, tactile, etc. A person walking by my classroom would see children smiling, working in groups, accomplishing projects, and would hear noise.

I received a bachelors degree from The University of Memphis in integrative studies in the fall of 2009. Upon graduation, I was required to complete two semesters of student teaching. Also, during my four years of college, I tutored three different students, one in reading and the other two in English. From August 2009 through January 2011, I was employed at a child care facility where I was director but spent most of my time tutoring and assisting the after school kids with their homework and projects. I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 1980 with a BA in psychology. Hoping to go further with those studies, I took the GRA exam and planned to begin the Master's Degree program that fall. However, I was married when I was in college and by graduation, I found out I was expecting our first baby in the coming fall, so I laid those plans aside to be a stay-at-home mom , and once she was ready for kindergarten, I had researched all the school/education options thoroughly and decided with my husband that we should homeschool.
