I am a retired college/university professor, and have been tutoring actively for the last six years (privately, as well as in a mentoring program at a community college). My tutoring experience has focused primarily upon mathematics, statistics, writing, Test Prep (e.g., ACT,SAT, GRE, math placement tests), chemistry and economics. As a teacher’s assistant for photography in high school, I realized that I had a natural aptitude for teaching and breaking subjects down into manageable parts. Since I earned my BS in wildlife biology, I have taught in many capacities, including as a substitute teacher and as a trainer for new employees. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I earned a mathematics degree, I struggled to gain complete competence in algebra and geometry. I believe that my initial struggles have enabled me to become a better teacher because I constantly offer several ways of solving a problem to my students. I do not have to pause and wait for them to comprehend the material the first try. I can simply try re-phrasing or a different method. Also, I am intrinsically patient and a people-pleaser.
